Weekend in the Berkshires

I admit, I never knew what the Berkshires were when I moved to New York. But that's one of my favorite things about coming to live on this coast for a while -- there really IS beauty beyond the Bay.

Hamptons? What Hamptons?

Coastal Wedding August 21, 2010

Here are a few of my favorite shots that I took during the "getting ready" portion of my best friend's wedding in Sausalito. I would have loved to shoot the actual ceremony and reception, but my camera was too clunky to hold and it didn't go with my dress. :)

sweet thing

And you shall take me strongly
In your arms again
And I will not remember
That I even felt the pain.

Portrait

I caught this little boy looking at me at San Francisco's Bay to Breakers a few weeks ago. I wonder what his little mind thought of all that foolishness and debauchery.

Minetta Street

I love this little piece of NYC in West Village. Minetta Street looks like a Broadway stage set or movie backdrop. It's most picturesque at night, when the street is lit by a single street lamp which perfectly illuminates the Mexican restaurant billboard.

Pop-up book

Antique finish on image of the city skyline, taken in Central Park

Kind of looks like one of those pop-up books that you had when you were a kid...

Telegraph Ave. (circa 2006)

I didn't snap a lot of photos while I was at Berkeley, which in retrospect is kind of too bad since Berkeley - as grunge as it is - lends itself to some nice shots. Funny how a lens can turn something so grimy into something so beautiful. Anyway, here are a few from my Berkeley archives...

Creations with seaweed

I didn't take this photo (that would be impossible, seeing as I am the little figure to the far left), but I like it. It reminds me of my childhood summers in Santa Barbara (although, this could just as easily be Mexico... either location is a safe bet for this period of my life). It makes me miss being a kid, when the most pressing concern in life was something as trivial as which size kelp would more easily tie around my pencil waist. I think the best photos are ones that invoke nostalgia, or remembrance for happy times.

Helllloooo, Spring!

NYC comes alive in the springtime...vendors in the streets, farmers markets and street fairs on nearly every block, piazza-like seating at restaurants. Happy Easter indeed!
